Good advice.
Good advice.
Some banks still offer them. One of my local credit unions has a Christmas Club temporary savings account that is offered year round with withdrawals due by December. I think it’s currently at 1% interest (for balances up to $1500), which isn’t fantastic compared to a a high-yield online savings account, but is better…
This was on my mind as we just paid off a small personal loan this month. Last year we spent nearly $600 on family alone last Christmas - not including anything for our bosses/coworkers, friends, or even each other. I’m seriously ready to adopt the “Secret Santa” single gift method, but it seems we’re alone on that…
There are several of these with RB26 in Japan. Many with Holset-sized turbos, in fact. Walking down the row of RB-powered Z31s with their hoods up at the Fairlady Z Meet at Fuji Speedway is quite amazing... among the hundreds of other Z’s and Skylines that show up.

The VG30DET (single turbo) was never offered in the 300ZX. The only dual cam V6 offered in the Z31 was the naturally-aspirated VG30DE in the 300ZR in non-US markets. The VG30DET came in Japanese four door sedans that were typically auto-only. If you’re referring to the VG30DETT (twin turbo), that was a Z32 300ZX…
I agree. And not just from a point of investment, but as a steady & constant income. Bonuses are not a guarantee and sometimes employers don’t or aren’t able to keep up on them. A raise is typically taken more seriously and once applied, tends to stay.
Definitely use them as a flavorful breading for frying or topping casseroles. Jalapeno or Ranch crumbs are excellent for that extra flavor blast.
What I want to know is if traditional tax returns are due by mid-April (17th this year), then why won’t my HSA contributions form 5498-SA generate until end of May? I realize it’s beneficial for those that continue to contribute to 2017's limit through April, but seems a bit redundant when mine switched over to 2018…
Excellent list - we carried all of the above on our two-week trip last year.
I went to a metal concert in a terrible small venue a few years back. The featured band had excellent sound: loud from all the Orange product on stage, but well tuned. The openers on the other hand, I think I permanently lost some hearing in one ear after them.
December was an odd month for me. I got on a kick to clean out parts of the house - primarily the garage and attic - and sold about $1500 worth of “stuff”! So I split the earned money: part of it went toward a much-needed new bed & mattress combo, another part went toward Christmas presents for the family, and another…
I have to agree on a trip to Japan as one of the best purchases. Technically I bought tickets and planned most of our itinerary in late 2016, but a two week trip across the main island was like none other. Adult luggage like Eagle Creek (my choice brand) helps too.
Best and/or most useful purchases this year:
Either or. I’ll try to run by the bank a few days beforehand and get big bills. If I’m running short on time or found out a cousin is showing up last minute, I’ll go through the ATM and swap out some bills from my rainy day cash jar.
Double post.
Cash. I hate to be that person because no one likes giving cash - it’s impersonal and perceived as lazy. But some of us are saving up for something big (too big to be given as a gift) and could use a little help. My family has always been good at contributing toward a large “goal gift”. My in-laws and the one black…
Now go watch youtube uploads of the 80's Nissan commercials. Nothing quite brings about the nostalgic motivation of an enthusiastic and deep-toned voice exclaiming how “Exciting” and “Awesome!” the 300ZX is.
I haven’t played around with IFTTT much, but do enjoy having it linked with my Qapital account. Having a literal rainy day savings action tied in with my savings goals adds a bit more automated fun to the ordeal.
Late response: We did great for the first two weeks. Had a lot of leftover ingredients from a shrimp boil so we kept busy trying to cook everything before it went bad. Even substituted a couple meals out with potluck style dinners with friends.
