There are so, SO many established programs that do this already — and sorry to say, do it better. Media Center Master, MyMovies, Plex, Meta Browser, XBMC, YAMJ, you name it. Nice to see yet another option out there, I guess. :)

One big problem with this article:

PeerGuardian is very old and outdated. I'd update to PeerBlock — basically the same software, but still gets updates (and is still free).

Custom installation of squid that does hostname and URL rewriting (so I can block just parts of websites at the same domain) does the trick for me.

The whole 'from red to black' myth is controversial at best — it's a huge misconception treated as fact. But I definitely agree that you'll wind up getting cheaply-made products for cheap with most 'deals'.
