I am a big fan of Independence Day. Watch it once a year, July 4th, because I have nothing better to do. It’s is the perfect ‘Murican!!! movie. I also love Real Steel, Jason X, Sky High and Thor 2

Yes, it has lots of crappy stuff in it, like 9/11 trutherism, Kirk’s death scene, British Khan, and unnecessarily gratuitous shots of Alice Eve.

Now playing

I am no longer embarrassed by it, but “A Knight’s Tale”
It has aged like wine

And the line after that is, “I’m Rey Katarn. You knew my father.”

The real counter argument:

I’d like it if Charles would knock off the race baiting.

It’s a great story, a hopeful one that I liked, but not 100% applicable.

Yeah, and the race change now means that the intelligent, compassionate, mature woman who saw the infected as children and not as test subject is now white (because God forbid a black person showing intelligence or compassion), and the little zombie girl who makes the decision to destroy the world and rebuild it in

I really hate it when americans assign their views and opinions of race onto other nationalities. This article has been written with a massive ignorance of British attitudes and culture.

“This world, one virtually devoid of white men, and led by women and people of color is precisely the kind that Donald Trump and his administration don’t want. Ironically, The Girl With All the Gifts manages to depict the creation of that sort of utopia through the same kind of lens that Trump might describe

Seriously. As a kid, all of my favorite fictional characters were robots and mutant turtles.

Then why isn’t she reading manga?

Except that is not what they said. They said nothing about enjoying, only identifying with. There is no false equivalence in that comment.

Even my kid identifies with characters she likes, NO MATTER how different they are to her. Come on.

Even more ridiculous considering anime characters don’t look asian at all.

The only problem is this mistaken and culturally-poisonous viewpoint that someone needs to look the same as you do in order or identify with them.

“nostalgia” appeal

I miss the EU. :(

An army of Sith would’ve been wayyyyyyy better.

I think the real problem was that they fell into the Star Wars novel rut of repeating themselves too quickly. Instead of the Empire almost winning, the NJO books inevitably ended with “The good guys eked out a marginal victory...BUT AT WHAT COST???????” time after time.

The Vong temselves also became an issue.
