I moved away from Texas about 15 years ago, but I remember Jim Adler’s commercials in the Dallas area even from then.  I also remember his transition from “the tough, smart lawyer” to “THE TEXAS HAMMER.”  I must say I wholeheartedly approved, at least in terms of my entertainment value.

I’ve been to a halal butcher where they kill the animal in front of you, and I’ve got to say that it seems more humane than an industrial slaughterhouse and makes you appreciate where your meat actually comes from.  It also leaves you with zero doubt about freshness.   I highly recommend it. 

Jebus, that's depressing.  Also, when I lived in Dallas, and then a number of years later in Boston, I'd wager that about half of my meals came from halal establishments, because they tend to make good food relatively cheaply.
