Ultimately, what's frustrating about the emmys is that we're in a seriously stacked time for television, such that you can have a 12-deep category and not have it slip below excellent. But somehow, they still manage to feel mediocre even when they are honoring worthy things. So yay for The Americans finally breaking

It got nominated for visual effects. But yeah, it deserved a Game of Throne level nomination tallies.

I loved it a great deal. Very intense.

Slim to the power of fuck-all.

Also, Liam Cunnigham fucking nailed that scene. I mean, we all know he's a terrific actor (that scene in Hunger) but his grief fueled anger just shook me.

a) That score is so fucking good. Ramin Djawadi outdid himself in season five and his work this season has been just obliteratingly awesome. I need this soundtrack now (just found it was released two days ago).

Screw this shit on a half shell.

Which is why The Great Train Robbery is my favourite of his books.

Yeah, basically every week I credit the crafts people for their work, but goddamn they deserve all the praise in the book.

Greatest season of the best show currently on television.

First, we open with praise to the craftspeople behind the show. Production design, scoring, costume, make-up… everything was on point. I particularly loved the opening scene - I'm a cheap date when it comes to seeing things actually get done according to older methods, though.

I agree.

Also, everyone "North" needs to wear a damn toque.

Every week I feel the need to say this, but goddamn Ramin Djiwadi's score is so fucking good.

Yes. I think the last three episodes, in particular, are very very strong.

Okay, Emmys. Seriously. Ignoring this show takes a supreme act of willful incompetence. This show was already an all-time list show before this season but this season is arguably its best. The brilliance has been staggering. The fact that Downton Abbey will likely get more nominations this season than The
