My point is that bringing in Kirk over and over is unnecessary and makes it seem like the showrunner doesn’t think that the show can stand on its own without prominently featuring characters who appeared TOS but didn’t have a previous direct connection to Pike or the pre-Kirk Enterprise. Plus, IIRC in “The Menagerie”…

It should be noted that part of the reason that we have less Pike this season is that Anson Mount and his wife had a child a little over a month before filming began. I think he requested less time on set (which he was granted).

I found this to be a solid, okay - but not remarkable - episode for a couple of reasons.
