its just another extension of those annoying slideshow posts everyone hates, personally ive hated video content since the early days of youtube, the reason is simple i read fast and i only read whats needed where videos are often full of rather needless waffle wrapped around the actual information

Now playing

I should say, I’m not necessarily against video as a primary delivery format, as long as there’s significantly produced content in the video that uniquely takes advantage of the video format in a way that isn’t expressible in text and therefore justifies its exclusive existence as a video. (A good example being

“hating small talk” is fine IF THAT’S WHAT IT REALLY MEANT— But it is not, “hating small talk” is usually code for “I resent (and might just outright refuse to engage in) those little social rituals that are the lubricant of interpersonal relationships.”

It’s a huge red flag, because it’s just so often said by people

When I think of Rockstar and Nintendo consoles, the first games I always think of are Body Harvest and Space Station Silicon Valley. Two games that very much paved the way for GTA3 eventually. You can really see to roots of that game in those games on the N64.

I’m curious if we’d excuse such terrible game design for other franchises. I mean, this reads as insanity for a person who has not played Dread.

The good old days when it was just basically just two Brians running a blog, and everyone seemed less offended by everything.

I’m delighted you are, too.

I remember being here when your son was born, in the old days before the Star commenter system was enacted and the Gawker network was young and scrappy. I remember interviewing for two months before being granted public commenting rights. Hard to believe it’s been so long. Glad you and yours are still around Brian.

The Nintendolife review mentioned that the physics on all the games, including Monkey Target, are off, so it throws the whole experience off. It’s actually made me not want to get it. Monkey Target, the versions from the first and second games, were going to be worth the price of purchase alone. But now I am afraid.

Does it have...I think it was called Monkey Target? Where you roll down the ramp and then fly up and open the ball into two wings and try to land on the target? Played a lot of that when the gamecube came out.

*deep breath*

Gunstar Super Heroes was one of the best GBA games ever.  If any game deserves a Switch remake, I think that’s near the top of the list!

All of this sounds like someone who doesnt work in an office.  No one gives a shit about any of these things.  No one is laughing at the Olds for saying Presentation instead of Slide Deck.

What the heck is “deciduous sound design” ?? It’s a tree-t for the ears? It falls flat in the fall? You want to leave it alone? It really branches out? It’s got a real phloem? It harkens back to the roots of gaming? It’s knot very good? I’m so confused!

That’s disgusting, what sites should I avoid to make sure I don’t see it?

“Hey kids! Stop by my windowless white van in the parking lot for a free kitten!”

Visit Kotaku, sees article, gets ready to reply with some snarky comment about Ubisoft’s legal problems, looks at what’s already in the Discussions...

When it's done, maybe I can finally figure out that crazy PC game I had as a kid, where the majority of the game took place underwater in an undersea base, and on rails action sections on jet skis, and in submarines. I have been trying to figure out what this game was for years. I want to say it came out between '88

I can't find the name of it now, but does this list include that game the guy was making that he was never going to release so it would only ever exist on the source computer and only ever be played by a couple of people? There was an article on here about a few months ago (?)
