I'm going to buy Vista for the mere sake of security and usability enhancements, drivers and application compatibility will come in time, but not a significant enough reason for me not to upgrade, especially with the Vista coupons being given away with recent XP purchases, in essence getting two licenses for the price

This is great for after a re-install, but if you know you'll need the patches in advance it's best to just slipstream them into the install CD with nLite (you can incorporate updates, service packs, powertoys, setup your services, add/remove components and lots of other features as well)
