I was a frequent traveler for work. I found that gripping the arm rests until your hands looked like a White Walker, speaking in tongues and then ordering a double neat pour of Bourbon (regardless of where the flight attendant was) ended up being the key combo for me.

I know it’s going to sound odd (maybe?), but if I really want a good fix for a Bourbon or peaty-Scotch, I’ll go for some Lapsang Souchong tea. Steeped for the right amount of time it gives that awesomely smoky flavor or booze without the judgmental stares from my co-workers at 8AM.
