Eve is great, if you have a Dev in your corp. You will be given all sorts of advantages and, when you are caught by a third party player and exposed, your friends, the Devs, will summarily ban the player in order to protect themselves.

I think part of what made vanilla WoW so good (nostalgia aside) was just the wonder of a new game. It was noticeably more playable/easier than other MMOs before it, but compared to how it probably is now (I haven’t played since right before Cataclysm), it was almost certainly a slog.

While I highly appreciate your reporting and every point you make in this article is sound, that doesn’t change the fact that every Bethesda game since oblivion looks and feels like oblivion and those of us who played oblivion to the ground in 2008 are getting tired of playing oblivion for the nth time in 2018.

There are times I think EVE does a valuable service to humanity by keeping its players hopelessly hooked on the game and away from the general public.

Well, when all support you get is HTFU harden the fuck up and exiting players round up newbies, nobody can seriously surprised. The solution to join a big faction makes EVE work not fun.

It’s either youth (stupidity), and/or sociopaths. And sociopaths tend to bring others into their selfish, narrow way of thinking.

15 year vet here. This is how it’s always been and it honestly surprises me this is only coming up now. Wars in EVE have existed since 0.0 became a thing and I can tell you from first hand experience that massive conflicts scare off new players.

9 year player here (my subs are not currently active and I haven’t played in 2 years). When I first started in Eve, wife and friends and I made a Corp. Immediately (within 3 days) got a wardec (declaration of war) on us.
