Lighting is just static electricity and that is a form of electricity, like the electrical charges in humans and animals and such, that isn't affected by whatever is stopping electricity from flowing through wires and the like.  If all electrical interactions were stopped so would lots of things on the planet as well.

They don't seem to like using those arrows do they.  Using the RPG lens to look at what is going on they seem to forget that ranged weapons have some value beside being used to block the same attack blow again again and again or as a stand in for a knife in this episode.  Maybe it's a running joke that they will use…
