I love assembling IKEA furniture! It’s like carpentry where all the hard parts are done for you. Hammer some shit, screw some shit in, and bam! You have made furniture.

Our reserves have notoriously horrific conditions. Canadians like to front like we are so progressive and post-racial but we have a very disturbing history of treatment of First Nations (and Inuit and Métis) people, and ongoing issue addressing said conditions on reserves.

As a technical matter, Canadian First Nations/Metis/Inuit persons are never referred to as ‘Indians’, although I understand this is the legal terminology in the US.

You know, aside from the horror of the headline, having a baseline age for prosecution is something I believe is right and needed. The whole purpose of childhood is to learn boundaries. Clearly this kid needs help, jail isn’t remotely help.

One of the doctors i bill for deals with traumatic brain injuries and sucked in breath when we heard the news. He said the same “The family is getting a chance to say goodbye unless by some miracle enough brain tissue is intact and can respond to treatment.” Poor man, his poor family.

So this boy essentially received a death sentence for (possibly) stealing a poster, and our dear leader admires their dear leader. What a world. :(

Yup. So basically this family is getting his body back and a chance to say goodbye. The chances of him making any meaningful recovery would be slim under the best of circumstances.

This poor fucking kid. And before people weigh in with this: Yes he was stupid. Yes his privilege led him To believe that grabbing a poster would be a fun prank. Yes, no sane person not on a jpurnalism or humanitarian mission should go to North Korea.

Jesus christ, I have no problem with celery, but the thought of eating a whole cup of celery (how are they measuring it? Chopped up?) at once sounds awful.

Meal descriptions like this just make me cradle my large belly with happiness. I cannot imagine a world where I’m fulfilled, spiritually or calorically, by “one cup of tomatoes with 12 almonds.”

Sometimes (okay, frequently) I think, “if I ate better, I could be skinnier”, but then I see shit like this. A flat tummy and skinny arms are not worth this. Nothing is.

I’m glad for that. But:

The two people that blocked off bystanders should be charged as accessories to murder as well. Justice for the man’s killers is great, but a clean sweep on everyone involved is more than warranted.
