Bitch face plus “what do you mean by that?” And repeat it like a four year old until he is either embarrassed or forced to be explicit?

He asked if I was married, and I was like “I will be in a few months.” And he goes “that’s plenty of time.” And gave me this gross smile and wink. I wanted to stab him in the eye with a knitting needle.

There’s an old man (really old...like 90) who insisted on being gross and creepy with me at my job in a library last weekend. I talked to my boss, who said they’ve had problems with him in the past, and that he probably targeted to me because I come off as “feminine and passive” due to my southern accent. She said

Nah, I teach preschool aged kids, I’m on the same page. Punishments do absolutely nothing. They teach kids to fear you, they don’t teach kids how to figure out desireable behavior.

They don’t reverse the training because the object of it is blind obedience to the parents.

I am sorry, even the sugar-coated version doesn’t sound normal at all. Babies can be carried everywhere (they are small!). And babies are supposed to make you pay attention to them (ever heard a baby cry?)

How in the world do they reverse the training when the kid gets old enough to start taking care of their own needs? I wonder if this causes potty training delays among, uh, other neuroses.

WTgoddamnF?!

Essentially, you place a baby on a blanket with a toy and if they try to leave the blanket area, you hit them.

So... it’s entrapment PLUS corporal punishment for BABIES?

The thing is, the Duggars are actually incredibly good at making their image friendly and relatable. They only talk about the “nice” parts of their religion on the show, or they sugar coat. The sugar coated version is, “We blanket train our kids, which just means we teach the babies to stay on a blanket and play

Yeah, apparently you can also lure them off the blanket. So fucked up.

If you “want” to learn more try googling “To Train Up A Child” by Debi and Michael Pearl. They demand immediate and total obedience from children, and they encourage corporal punishment to get it. There are multiple lawsuits against them, and their book is frequently brought up in court when adoptive parents “punish”

What a perfect way to raise a child who won’t fight back from a molester!

I came say the exact same thing. On one hand, it’s incredibly important to shield what little agency remains for the victims in these cases. The lawsuit has merit and may set an important precedent.

It’s insanely difficult to pay for a billion kids when you don’t have a television show backing you up. The culture shock of being anywhere near a normal family with no real jobs for income must have devastated them.

And by “they are suing” I assume we mean “their father has directed them to sue” because he needs to protect the brand he manages.

It’s just like a dog. My dog recognizes (sometimes) that I am his superior and have the power in the relationship, and he (sometimes) can’t help wanting to please me. That dynamic should not exist between a married couple.

I completely agree with this lawsuit. A minor’s testimony to the police about being molested should not be published in a rag.

Oh. my. god. That expression on her face is beyond nauseating. Adoring and somehow pleading at the same time. Sums it all up, doesn’t it?
