Me feel like everyone complaining about this show need to go back and watch first season of every single Trek show, because some of them were dire at onset

“Who has time, between scrolling mindlessly through multiple social media feeds or lovingly placing dog noses on their selfies just so, to sit down and watch decades of films that demand our undivided attention for two entire hours at a time?”

Even “Amnesia” is better than “Tubthumping” (substantially better, in fact), and it got to number 10 in the UK charts, meaning they don’t even qualify as a one-hit wonder on a technicality. It can be two hits!

Forgive the self plug...

Because number of subscriptions is literally all that matters to them. Viewing figures are utterly irrelevant to Netflix. It’s better they have a show which ten people watch and brings in ten new subscriptions than a show a thousand people watch that brings in no new subscriptions. Viewing figures don’t matter to

Yet

It can be two terrible versions of an awful song?

Hot take? Not really. I honestly think Pulp Fiction might be the most over-rated movie of all time. To be clear, I don’t think it’s a bad movie, it’s just incredibly self-important, fussy and arrogant. So. Very. Pretentious.

The Wonder Stuff will be very glad to hear that.

What’s going on it a hugely over-rated movie that mistakes time-slips for clever and mistakes a couple of iconic scenes for being an actual good film.

This is the first time I have made a sincere effort to comment under Kinja. I’m not sure I will be back.

Abba, you say?

I had the opposite reaction to GoT - loved it, then liked it, then eh, then fuck this. Dallas with a pointy chair instead of Ewing Oil. The Red Wedding was my breaking point, because it was hilarious and nobody seemed to see that.

It’s unseemly to plug oneself right?

I guess that's the one they describe as "crap" prior to "Tubthumper". I don't think it's their best work, but there's some great songs on there - "Love Can Knock You Over", "Just Look At Me Now", and especially "All Mixed Up" and "This Dress Kills". Oh and the unutterable fury of "Hey! You! Outside Now!" It's

My heart too. "Shhh!" "Anarchy" "WYSIWYG" "Un" and "A Singsong And A Scrap" are worth anyone's time. They're just straight-up good music.

At least as far as the original punk movement went, there was a hugely puritanical streak to it that demanded conformity as much as any of the movements that the allegedly-free-thinking punks criticised. Chumba dispensed with that and just wrote music that they wanted to write, carrying a message that they wanted to

I'm not boasting, but really - they were amazing.

I love Alice and Danbert - they were a huge inspiration and inflence on me when I was in my 20's and I will never not adore them. Tremendously wonderful people.

WYSIYWG is terminally under-appreciated - it's a great little album. Shhh! gets my best-album vote though, and by some distance.
