I hate rom-coms 80% of the time but Love and Basketball is just one of those nearly perfect movies. That's a hill I'm willing to die on haha.

Brown Sugar was SO GOOD.

this is beside the point, but I love Queen Latifah and i love Common but i hated them as a couple in that movie (Just Wright). there was ZERO chemistry! 

Last Holiday is such a sweet little movie.  

I know this is so not the point, but does How Stella Got Her Groove Back count as a romantic comedy? I don’t remember it being particularly funny. I would’ve thought straight up romance.

It would’ve been so easy for Rebel to just say, “Shit, you’re right. I’m sorry.” It really sucks that instead she’s being stubborn and choosing not to support the plus size women who came before her, as if there can only be one.

She could of even said “It was sarcasm... I totally know I am not the first”.

Rebel also lied about her age, birth name (not Rebel) and how she grew up to a journalist about three years ago and took them to court claiming they misrepresented her. She’s trash, end of story.

Sidebar: Queen Latifah and Mos Def in Brown Sugar. Can we not forget about how crazy cute they were in that? I still want that spin-off sequel.

She claimed to be the first plus sized woman to be the star of a rom com. That was not in any way true. Shove your sarcasm. Black people have a right to fight against their erasure. You sound more like a right-wing troll than someone making an honest comment. 

So let me get this straight. a white actress from a country with a history of sustained oppression and instances of legislated erasure of people of color, manages to erase And dismiss the history and barrier breaking work already started by people of color. Well Color me shocked.
