He dared to use the monkey’s paw.

I liked the movie. It’s a shame Cameron is too busy shooting Avatar 2 through 10, despite never having written a script for the first one.

Will Ferrell seems like he’s just much more suited to sketch comedy than film.  So many of his film characters can be summed up as “Will Ferrell.”  “Will Ferrell with a different hairstyle.”  “Will Ferrell in a goofy costume.” “Will Ferrell with a wig and a mustache.” and so on.

I’d love to see her host. She spent 8 years on the show making the most out of some very weak writing. And she was back again last night doing the same.

restraint, as far as i can tell

Didn’t see the trailers but as soon as the review said that P. Stew got to ‘ham it up’ I thought ‘big villain reveal monologue, right?’

Now playing

The Special Edition VHS had a making of intro at the beginning, and the original scene was with a human playing Jabba, they had no idea what species he would be yet, and when they added back the scene for the Special Edition and digitally put Jabba in Han steps behind him in a way that could only look like he stepped

weirdest retcon is still han stepping on jabba’s tail

There’s only one version of the Han/Greedo gunfight: Han shoots Greedo, Greedo never fires a shot. Whenever I watch any version of Star Wars that purports to show something else, I simply mentally replace what I’m seeing with the original scene.

When director George Lucas released his specialized edition of the original trilogy, he edited the scene to make it clear that it was Greedo who fired the first shot. The change settled an ongoing and highly-exhaustive debate

Not understanding a) the nature of a feature or b) that not all writing on a pop culture site is journalism is neither constructive nor criticism nor particularly effective commentary.

I think you’re going to be disappointed by the Newswire and Great Job Internet columns as well.

“I chose the body of a 45 year old white man for a reason. I can only fail upwards.” - - The Good Place

Can we do that without me getting older somehow?

Also the quite good cop series Life, where Damian Lewis played a cop who’s just been released from an unjust prison sentence and goes back on the job while also investigating the conspiracy that framed him. At least the season finale that ended up being the series finale did provide pretty decent closure, as if they

They look like Dick Tracy villains

Considering the bullshit Leno participated in to get the job in the first place I had no sympathy for him.

I don’t see why we can’t save all the fond retrospectives for a time when someone might have reason to miss him.

A friend hosts a Meetup to watch arthouse/foreign films. Recently his choice was 8 1/2. I was excited, because I usually share his taste, and I know Fellini is an acknowledged great, and I still have his work to discover. But 8 1/2 just bored the living shit out of me. I know about its historic influence and I could

The greatest trick ever pulled is Kanye convincing everyone that this was a good record. A few good tracks and a LOT of boring garbage, “boo hoo I’m a douche” lyrics, and everyone is like “oh so deep”. Runaway is an underwritten bore.

So this is pretty much the movie they mock in Forgetting Sarah Marshall?
