As soon as she said this, all I could think of was how much there was to unpack here in regard to race. Allyson loves Beyoncé, whose own ancestry is mixed, her mother is French Créole, and her desire to emulate that legacy is kind of disturbing. It's not simply about her wanting to be "brown" that I find disturbing,

I keep trying to psych myself up to see the second movie, but it's not going so well.

I never saw the second movie because as soon as I saw the part where they're in Dubai, I knew I would get a migraine and since I got a migraine during the first movie, I didn't want a repeat performance x10.

This is a great series to watch on rerun: the clothes, the fluff, and the occasional nuggets of wisdom. I like to pretend the movies don't exist because they're almost a caricature of the whole show and don't do it any justice.

From the website: "In this important film, the time traveling teenagers learn about America’s heroic response to the tragic events of 9/11. They strive to understand why Al-Qaeda attacked us and how the ongoing War on Terror protects Americans at home and American ideals abroad."

I had Botox to release a muscle contraction. It didn't work, because I always have to be THAT person, the person in the 4% for whom that particular treatment DIDN'T work, so I had to have the traditional incision which was a real party, but it worked and I could walk again.

Brilliant.

"A teacher wants to teach. I mean, why else would you take a shitty salary and really long hours and do that job unless you really love to do it?" — Matt Damon.

"Kim Kardashian has chosen her wedding cake."

I watched this last night and it was actually really refreshing, introspective, and mature of Amber to confront the publicity surrounding her. I never thought I'd say this about any of the Teen Moms (outside of Caitlyn), but I was really proud of her, that couldn't have been easy to acknowledge, even superficially and

You know what would be cool? Is if Americans knew that Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States, hosted the first iftar at the White House and owned a translation of the Qur'an that he bought while a student at William & Mary. That wouldn't blow too many of their mini minds, would it?

:) Aww, this is lovely, thank you. Ramadan Kareem! xx

I met Mr Professopatra two months after I canceled my subscription on Match.com.

This is so appropriate for Ramadan Eve.

I really want her hat. I really love that asymmetrical style with the big flower. She's the third person I've seen with that style this summer. It's a really beautiful, clever hybridizing of a fascinator and proper hat.

"There are clear indications from our people who have amazing intellectual capability that this didn't happen by accident and a creator put this in place," Perry said.

Honestly, since I've been in academia, I've become completely jaded to people's social skills. Some of the shit that has come out of people's mouths TO MY FACE, and not just socially awkward, just rude, and some of the things I've seen of late OUTSIDE of academia just blow my mind in terms of just basic etiquette and

Thank you. My point exactly in a very non-roundabout way. :)

My boyfriend lives in the building next to me, but even though I know he wants to stay the night with me, I always send him home because I need to have that space/time to decompress. That and the fact that sharing a twin bed with someone long-term is just not something I want to commit to, thanks. That's a little too

What if you miscarry and you change your "expecting" status? Then you get to tell your entire newsfeed that you miscarried or something happened to the pregnancy? Would it be like when you break-up with someone? I also foresee issues with this in terms of crime against pregnant women. What a good idea! Add another
