Man, I love Larry Wilmore. I wish I could get into his show more, but the anti-Hillary sentiment has gotten to be a little much— it’s not even coming from him necessarily, but some of his guests...well, the last one I saw had Susan Sarandon on so, yeah.

In case you were wondering, people who work in the classical music industry are not super happy about this show, but it’s in the same way that I assume people who work for district attorneys’ offices are not super happy about Law and Order SVU.

As a conservatory-trained vocalist with a music professor father, I SO wanted to love this show! Music! Orchestra! Gael Garcia Bernal!

But the thing withMozart is that all of the drama—realistic to the symphony world—revolves around union disputes and keeping the New York Symphony Orchestra relevant to young audiences.

It’s a love letter to classical music and orchestral musicians. Orchestral musicians are nuts. The chance of making a living doings it is about the same as becoming a pro ball player and you get paid much much much less. Considering there are series about sports or modeling or any other long shot profession, why not
