The “Oh, Death” performance at the Grammy’s was stunning...he just stood up in the audience and sang.

No one just finds themselves near Bristol, Va. You have to be actively looking for it or drunk to find yourself there.

All hail the modern grocery bagger, who is politely yet firmly instructed to go help someone else, I got this, and who sometimes watches in confusion as all the items on the belt are snagged, bagged, and in the cart before the cashier even prints the receipt.

I only shop at grocery stores where there is self checkout so I can bag my food the way I want it, plus I am faster than a standard cashier lane.

Yes! PE class instilled in me that exercise is punishment. The gifted athletes - and those who were at least competent - who played on the schools teams were treated to a good experience. The rest of us could go run laps till we threw up. Really.

And this is what separates the average white dude from the rest of us:

Hey! I love mosaic knitting. *cough*

I enjoy both, to be fair, but Vogue tends towards patterns that are heavier on fussy and counterintuitive construction techniques. Interweave is less *fashion* but more focused on good intuitive design, AND they don’t keep trying to make mosaic knitting happen every two years.

If it’s on the cover the pattern will definitely be included. That yarn is stunning, I love those copper tones.

Does the magazine have the pattern for that sweater? Because I need it.

Interweave, while typically a better publication to knitters, is not a name well-known outside the community, like Vogue Knitting. (I find that Vogue typically shows up with designs that prompt me to say things like, “Well, sure, you can, but should you?” Like this one, that covered their 25th anniversary edition in

I got my mother a tote bag for Mothers’ Day last year that says “I have two needles. You have two eyes. Don’t mess with a person that knits.” She uses it to carry her knitting on the train and it makes me so happy.

Heh. It was originally part of the Conde Nast empire way back in the 1930s, but now it’s owned by a company that makes sewing patterns.

My mother (bless her) tried to teach me to knit MULTIPLE times throughout my childhood, and it never stuck. Three years ago, I asked her to teach me again and somehow, she agreed. We got some chunky yarn and a pair of bamboo needles, and it finally clicked. I now love to knit, though I am not currently able to knit in

She joins generations of actresses (and quite a few actors) who knit on film sets. A few choice examples of the legacy she’s maintaining...

To be fair, it’s not like Interweave had her on the cover. But as a knitter, I am SO FUCKING PUMPED that she’s a total knitting stan. It IS cool! (Or rather, very warm, because I have this bomb fucking Fair Isle socks).

how DARE SHE imply that “Vogue Knitting” is better than “Interweave Knits”

I grew up in Nashville, and when I came back from breaks, there was always a line in front of my dorm room door because I always brought back these little chunks of Heaven.
