I support the 328d xDrive suggestion, and top it with this 328d Wagon for $27,900.

I’m with you guys. Bland styling, often non-defeatable traction control.
I’m sure they are good cars to drive at 8/10ths, and make for very fun daily drivers as they are more comfortable than other hot hatches, but I just never really saw the big appeal with VW’s.

You say bland, I say refined and classic. VW’s are relatively timeless - 10-15 year old Mk4's still look just as great as they did when they came out. The same can’t be said about some of these new “dynamically-styled” design languages...

Good stuff. We need more articles on VW and less on Ford.

But they weren’t micro were they? No? GTFO!

Incorrect.

No. Micro-Machines were amazing. Get out.

Makes you think why Rosberg left a contract that was till 2018. To be a family man yes. But, I like to think to rekindle a friendship.....

It’s a nice thought

nico has his priorities straight, while the kanye west of f1 over here let a very successful and talented woman go because she wanted to settle down and start a family, and he wanted to be a party animal celebrity...

This reminds me of where Lewis was during the Abu Dhabi divers parade... LOL does not play well with others

He isn’t wrong about the power demand. Once we have mass conversion, we will need new powerplants. Granted this is years down the line. We aren’t building new coal plants or natural gas plants. Heaven forbid we actually build a new nuclear plant. Renewables aren’t continuous enough - except hydro and we aren’t

I think he explained it better in a more serious test (Nissan Leaf?) on old TG. Basically, if a car has a 200 mile range, and you need to charge it for 12 hours to go another 200 miles, it’s blatantly not yet fit for the purpose of a ‘general purpose’ car, the battery tech just isn’t there yet.

Good.

No one’s ever said Lewis is an extrovert, actually. He’s always demonstrated that he’s very, very much in control of who comes into his inner circle and that makes me think he’s pretty introverted and protective of his space. I can respect that, knowing plenty of people who are the same way. He’s rather cleverly

Who gives a shit? That’s his schtick. Let him have it.

I have three, in fact. And to be honest, I do imagine that’s the real and respectable reason for his retirement.

I am really happy for him. He did what he wanted to do, at the very top level, he has a young family and now he is going to be able to focus there. I imagine we will see him in a car again, on his own terms, and I would bet Mercedes will take good care of him.

I never owned an automatic, I passed my driving license with my dad manual Audi (instructor thought I was crazy, first person in months he had seen with a manual). Then I bought a manual mazdaspeed6 and never stopped buying manuals afterwards....

Slushboxes are boring.

I honestly didn’t know anyone on the Jalopnik staff was of driving age in 1997.
