I cracked my skull while ::looks around:: rollerblading on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia. Not wearing a helmet. Not even sure how I survived but I have a time bomb subdural hematoma that can go off at any time. One of those “There but for the grace of God” things.

I have the “Wear a helmet” battle with my 12 year old daily, simply because of the sheer number of dipshit parents in my town who allow their kids to ride their bikes up and down main roads without them. Now it’s if course become a “Cool kids don’t wear helmets” thing, and I have to fight with my son so he doesn’t

They are. It benefits the privileged who have time to show up during a short window of time. Primaries always give a better representation of voters’ views. And they can have an option of mail in which is really convenient for voters.

lol

They boil down to “whoever has the loudest supporters will win.”

It’s also funny when a Trump supporter starts down the grammar road.  Like, if you really want to do this, your side is losing HEAVILY.

something funny about an actual Nazi also being a grammar nazi

Yup. Caucuses suck. They boil down to “whoever has the loudest supporters will win.” It’s public peer pressure writ large.

I’m a 50-something man who, like everybody else, has experienced enormous joy and tragedy in my life. And as I type this I’m sitting in a coffee shop, tears running down my face, for a family I never knew.

Amen, caucuses are fundamentally undemocratic and idiotic. Hold a normal primary or nothing at all.

Caucases are bullshit and anti-democratic and dumb and also the only states Sanders did really good in in 2016. Do with that what you will.

It’s not poisoning the well, it is the fucking well. Tell me exactly why we need the electoral college. What are you worried that some small vocal minority of people would subjugate the majority to their rule?

It’s not undemocratic.

Give me one good reason to have the electoral college then. Every other democracy has a popular vote decide their elections. The Republicans only want to have it stick around because without the electoral college, they wouldnt have had one president elected since Reagen

It is undemocratic when it puts an inordinate amount of importance on 6-7 states. We have 50, buddy.

Other uses like preventing a dangerous and unqualified populist candidate from assuming office? Oh, wait...

It has other uses that are still valuable today that have nothing to do with slavery.

You may want to go and look at the definition for “democracy”.

Jesus Christ do you still not understand that the electoral college is a compromise for slave states and is completely undemocratic at it’s core?

It isnt dead if its still the ride we are all forced to take.  Kill it first before pronouncing it dead.
