Holy shit the memories. As a kid that was the bomb. Those cars, the sound, the speed

and the gt90, and the cala, wow. what a kid’s dream are made of

yeah, that + hakkinen in f1 made me a mclaren fanboy

my dad’s car, and

fuck. i love that thing

It’s not that little though... It looks like it’s very similar in size to an a4

Is it normal to have a huge lump in my throat just byseeing a group b car? Knowing the history, they're so, so intimidating.

“A loud, uncomfortable British SUV”

uh, i didn’t know that about g wagens, i know they are more reliable than old range rovers but not by a margin that would make me prefer one over the other for value/reliability. so given the similar costs i’d have gone with the range because it’s wicked cool. thanks for the heads up.

i know that story, but i’m not sure that’s applicable to real life. i wouldn’t want to own a car for a lifetime (probably), and i wouldn’t want to cross continents off road in it. to me both merc or range are similar in terms of cost of ownership. maybe one is more to buy and less to fix while one is less to buy and

apart from the engine, a mercedes is a more complex vehicle, and parts cost more. the gen 1 range is a very, very basic machine and can be had for cheaper. of course it’ll break, but it’ll be cheap to fix. but you don’t buy either a g wagon or a range rover from the 1970s/80s because they’re reliable and cheap...

yeah i can see that. but i don’t care much about panel gaps and i don’t want a concurs example, aftermarket parts are okay

because you think a 1985 merc is reliable?

cool car, but i’d rather have a first gen three door range rover

Good to see a car maker talking about physics and not bullshit terms like efficiency, dynamism, or its own brand’s heritage

I reckon they’ll depreciate even further
