Let’s not make up a narrative. People aren’t always going to “behave” as we wish them to. MLK III is obviously something of a supporter, and he says he wants to work with Trump. We may not “like” that, but it is what it is.

MLK III is a bridge-building type who speaks out about issues of poverty, etc., and doesn’t seem to want to touch the Lewis controversy. He’s been fairly supportive of Trump and seems to want to work with him.

Except Mike Pence didn’t do that. What you just witnessed is a masterclass in political minpulation. He focuses almost entirely on John Lewis’s statements, and how he was disappointed and hopes he reconsiders, how John Lewis is one of his heroes. He has a one off about Trump because he has to. He’s the Vice President,

Well Im a female so first I clench my tiny fingers into a fist then I use my Freddie Roach training and punch you with a right cross right in your front teeth. After your head stops ringing and your jaw pops back into joint, you’ll realize that all you have to show for being a lame liberal with a smart mouth  is a fat

the point is that a student group invited Milo to come talk, so the university normally would not have the right to revoke that invitation because others on campus don’t like what he has to say. that’s the ‘free speech’ part.

Well, I work at a university, have a master’s degree in running a university, have taken higher ed law classes, and sat in on a meeting with our university legal counsel about just this issue six weeks ago. So yes, I can confidently say that the university must respect EVERYONE’S right to free speech, not just their

Sorry, but nope. There is video of this protests and you can see anti-milo protester assaulting pro-milo cameraman, but yeah it was non violent.

To me, the one less-than-pure-black-evil position that Trump seems to have is his stance on gay marriage and LGBT rights in general. That is to say, his personal stance isn’t as abhorrent as those of the people he will undoubtedly nominate to various positions all throughout the federal government. So...it’s a

have you seen other protests at his speeches? for example, protesters at rutgers smeared ‘blood’ (paint) all over themselves during his event while screaming incoherently. THAT’s the insane i’m referring to. to his followers, hearing allegations of poop throwing doesn’t need verification because it doesn’t stray too

Liberals: You’re not going to like this, but you just can’t do this sort of shit. I’m a decades long card-carrying-progressive-berniebro-whatever-you-want-to-call-it-leftie and I totally get the feeling -- he’s abominable, and it feels good for a few moments to shut down his event. But we already know he’s human

As an LA gay, I was especially surprised at the folks in my circles who emerged as Trump supporters.

If it’s a public school, then it’s a 1st amendment issue.

My campus’s College Republicans group invited him. The admin has nothing to do with it, other than to say (rightly, even if I don’t like it) that they can’t prevent speech on the basis of content. They have, however, told the CRs that they have to pay for the additional needed security, which so far they can’t

The administration didn’t invite them, it was the College Republicans.

No, not really. Once a registered student group has invited him to campus, university administration has almost no recourse to stop the speech. To do so would be a violation of the 1st amendment since public universities are state actors.

It’s not universities that invite him. It’s usually a student group (like the College Republicans). A public school cannot turn Milo away without violating the 1st amendment. The only reason they can deny him is if they can say that his speech would cause a security threat, or if the expense of hiring extra security

Quoting Angus Johnson on free speech issues = lol

Can’t stand the guy. His words and worldview are vile and hateful. But shutting down his event through protest plays right into his social media savvy platform and framing of the American left as “oppressive”. I fully recognize the college republicans ultimately chose to cancel but it was also the stated goal of

Personalities like Milo are inevitable. As discriminated groups gain equality, like GSD people as an example, there necessarily needs to be a Milo to speak against those who fought before him on his behalf; the “alt-right” of the ‘80's, ‘90's, and even early 2000's would have never embraced him like he’s been embraced
