I’ll let Chris Rock respond:

“The commission did not respond to a large majority of them.”

This is way more powerful of a message than the standard corporate messaging that’s been filling my inbox.

As someone who was a child prior to the introduction of these seats, here’s what preceded it: babies/infants were held by an adult, but once one had achieved toddler status, you were postioned as any grown person: “Sit still!”

I remember sitting on the back seat and sliding back and forth with every turn of the car. It was especially fun when my dad was driving and would intentionally swerve all over the road. Fun times!

It’s not enough to be right, the messaging matters.

The protesters aren’t calling for the whole concept of policing to be abolished. They’re calling for reform, less racism, and getting rid of the “bad apples”.

Agree fully. The message is fine but “defund” is going to be interpreted as “lefties want to abolish the police” which is obviously ridiculous, but never ever underestimate the stupidity of the American public. “Reform” is way more apt IMO.

I think the only difference could be how demographics are split if they are at all compared to previous failed campaigns rather than simply the overall numbers.

If lots of people just do the bare minimum we’ll be rid of this scumbag.

It’s not enough to be right, the messaging matters. It’s naive to think the GOP won’t spin this out of our hands. “Defund”, “Disband” is a messaging gift to the GOP. Meanwhile what most people is sweeping reform, recalibrating police functions, reallocating funds for militarization of police to social services etc.

This needs to be the top comment.

nothing in the bill calls for a reduction in police department budgets.

I wouldn’t be so sure. As a school board member I saw the teachers’ union close ranks around some pretty rotten apples. I’m sure they felt they had to — if the union is seen as not defending someone tooth and nail, then “maybe they won’t be there if I need them”.  And this was in a district where the union and the

Pilots have a union, but I am pretty sure that their union doesn’t defend them when they endanger lives.

Sorry, but I gotta know. What’s an LP shirt? Lollapalooza?

Yup. I remember they released it on a single I have buried somewhere, and I always wondered why it wasn’t on the record. Miles better.

Yeah, all things considered, nuclear power is actually pretty freaking clean as long as the waste is disposed of properly. Note, this of course depends on using modern reactors and following guidelines. Would I want to live near one? nope, but I wouldn’t want to live near any industrial zone.

God, M-O is great. His introductory scene is hilarious but when he finally speaks to WALL-E and introduces himself it’s weirdly touching. I’ve no idea how they made two robots saying M-O back and forth in digitised voices have so much meaning but they did.

On one featurette, they talk about how Roger Deakins was instrumental in the shopping cart pratfall, where there’s a brief blur of the camera zooming and focusing, and how the camera simply pans to the distant shot of Wall-E getting crunched. It gives a tactile visual sensation that the viewer is seeing it unfold in
