My favorite part is when Tom Petty talks about George having multiple ukuleles in his car, because “you never know, we might need more.”

Is it “Living in the Material World” by chance? I loved that so much I bought it. George had such a wonderful soul.

Kim is nothing but insecure. In this most recent season in particular all she does is fret about her weight/appearance to the point of obsession. When you’re worried if needing to pee is going to make you look fat you should probably talk to a therapist.

Sending good thoughts your way. My dad lived with Primary Progressive MS for over 30 years before dying of lung cancer in 2015 (his older sister also had it). People have no idea how debilitating it can be unless they have the disease themselves or are close to someone that does.

Now I’m glad my dogs don’t have hands, ‘cause I’m pretty sure they’d do this to me constantly.

I initially watched this on mute, but when I saw your comment I played it again with the volume up.

You’re so right! You can have a strong female lead, and yet so often she ends up in the stereotypical happy ever after. I loved “Brave” in that respect-the focus was on the complicated mother-daughter relationship, and a girl who refused to be a typical princess.

I had this discussion with my husband not long ago; we were surprised when we compared films today with the films we grew up with, and the absence of strong female leads/women with agency (we’re in our late 30s). We had Ripley, Sara Connor, SO many other great female role models. Even many of the supporting female

He seemed surprised that you lift weights? UGH. Fuck that guy. I love lifting weights, I’d do weights over cardio any day, and I hate this attitude. The “girls don’t lift weights, they cycle!” thing makes me want to punch a wall.

Made the crazy decision to buy a $350 Frye tote this week. I never spend that much money on clothes/accessories, so it feels really irresponsible. But I couldn’t resist, the leather smell was CALLING to me. I just keep reminding myself that it’s an investment and the bag will last forever.

I think it’s important to remember that every body is different when it comes to weight distribution. I’m 5'5 and weigh 180, but I’m a size 10. Most people my height at that size weigh far less; it’s all subjective. I do kettlebell workouts about 3 times a week for 30 minutes each, so I’m obviously not working out

Agree with you on all of this. It’s an incredibly moving movie in ways that are far deeper than the majority of kids movies today. I think when I was a kid I never thought about the parallels to horror movies because in my mind this was just how life was for wild animals-there’s danger everywhere and some monster is

I sometimes worry that today’s kids aren’t exposed to enough dark stuff. It may give you a few nightmares, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It helps you learn to cope with shit. My friend’s kids can’t even watch the end of The Little Mermaid without freaking out, and they’re 8 and 10.

I’ve never understood why it gave so many people nightmares when they were kids. I was fascinated by it, and I saw it for the first time when I was 6 or so. I grew up in the country and was used to seeing animals mutilate each other, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I love Don Bluth movies (Secret of Nimh is one of my favorite cartoons ever), and none of them really bothered me as a kid with the exception of the Cossack Cats in the beginning of An American Tail. Those weren’t cats, those were slavering demons.

Agreed on the bear scene in Fox and the Hound, and I’m not someone who’s easily scared/disturbed by movies (I LOVE Watership Down and Secret of Nimh and saw both at a very young age; for me the darker the cartoon the better).

When I was getting married, my best guy friend (and my husband’s best man) asked if he could come to one of my dress fittings because he was excited to see which dress I’d picked. My aunt was convinced that this meant he was in love with me. She couldn’t understand that a woman could have a close friendship with a man.

The hubs and I had a campfire tonight and listened to nothing but Tom Petty. It felt like an appropriate farewell.

I’m so very sorry; what a beautiful kitty. My oldest dog is 14 and I live in fear of this day.

That Taco Bell is made of dog food. This came from my mom, who just didn’t want to take me to Taco Bell when I was a kid because she didn’t like it.
