Bowie has always been in heavy rotation on my iPod (I have a playlist of over 100 songs called Bowie is God). This week I’ve been alternating between “Seven”, “Quicksand”, and “Word on a Wing”, and of course making myself cry in the process.

Bowie is my favorite musician of all time, and Rickman is one of my favorite actors (watching “Die Hard” as we speak! Long live Hans Gruber!). Fuck this week, and DOUBLE-FUCK cancer.
I’d love to somehow (don’t know how I’d do it as a woman) crash the continental congress during it’s most pivotal week and just listen/observe. Then with total legitimacy I’d be able to come back to 2016 and say to all the rednecks in my hometown, “Uh, no, our founding fathers never said that.”
Wow, good answer.
For the longest time I thought he said, “The smell of that chick just put my spine out of place.” Which I guess would work lyrics-wise, but maybe not as poetic...
THANK YOU! I was in awe the first time I heard this earlier in the week. These men were the best in the world.
Particularly love this one:
Oh man, you just made me realize it’s a perfect song for that. The way Bowie’s voice breaks towards the end seems like it would lend itself well to drunken yelling... although for some reason when I get drunk I only want to listen to “Tumbling Dice” by the Stones.
I personally think that song features the two greatest singers to have ever lived. Someone posted an isolated track of the song’s vocals this week somewhere on here, and DAMN.
I vividly remember watching “Let’s Dance” and “China Girl” as a kid. I grew up with Bowie’s music in my life because my parents were fans, but 80s blonde bouffant-haired, parachute pants-wearing Bowie holds a special place in my heart.
Jesus, that sucks. Getting shingles has been slowly crawling to the top of my fears list, and I’m only 35.
Oh god. “Quicksand” has been in my head all week. “Just a mortal with potential of a superman. I’m living on...”
Bowie is god. All things should be named after him.
Yes, it’s amazing. After encountering two of them in the wild my husband and I decided to go on a manatee encounter (apparently we couldn’t get enough). Our guide was very respectful of them and advised us not to touch or chase them, but that the manatees were allowed to touch us, lol. Honestly I didn’t feel as though…
I’ve been wondering about this for a while now. My family regularly travels to southwest Florida and on our past two trips I’ve encountered manatees. Not in the typical areas where you find them either, but just off the beach in the open ocean. Both of them were absolutely delightful and curious; my husband and I…
I have two vacations planned for 2016, including a trip to Ireland with my mom (my first time ever leaving the country!), so there’s definitely hope. On the plus side Christmas with my extended family was particularly good this year, so I guess there’s that.
2015 has been the worst year of my life. In January our furnace died and needed replaced. In February the new system quit working again, and it took two more visits from the repairman to get all the kinks worked out. In April the transmission on my car went and I had to unexpectedly buy a new one. In June my beloved…
It seems like a lot of people are tearing into you for this in different threads here, but I gotta say, I feel you. I’m childless by choice, but I totally understand that not every woman experiences pregnancy the same, and that some woman have an extremely difficult time and need to be off from work. It’s a medical…
