Shawn Hatosy is hot.

Said this already, but can't say it enough: it's ABSOLUTELY worth watching.  I'm still recommending it to everyone I know.

Very disappointed, but not exactly surprised.  I expected more of British audiences (not sure why, but I did).

The point is the two seasons we have are some of the best TV of the last couple of years.  You won't be wasting your time.

My favorite episode so far this second (half of) season.  The "It's a Perfect Relationship" coaching scene was the best part, though I'm also just a sucker for old-school Broadway.  I've found Ginny's character pretty grating - though believable - in her extreme hostility towards any kind of change, but she was pretty

Re: Branson, the shift in his dress is especially striking when you watch all the episodes back to back.  How you like dem suits, hypocrite!  But I kinda like the direction they're taking his character - he's much more interesting as an intermediary between the upper and working classes than as a wannabe socialist

Soderbergh's got mad skills, but there's something almost clinically…detached about his perspective (especially in his most recent movies) that teeters between "cool" and "chilly," and in most cases leaves me a little…cold.  Though I did enjoy "The Informant!" maybe because that kind of detachment makes for excellent

See, I don't mind there being less "drama" in the sense that there are no villains.  If the finale ends up being Brooke, Kristen, and Sheldon, I'll be happy as a clam.

Try having Southland AND Top Chef AND Nashville (which I'm still giving a chance, though it will probably be the one to get dropped).  At least The Hour isn't on anymore.  But I still have only one DVR for that 10 pm slot!

I was just going to post that he reminds me of James McAvoy.  Something about his saucer eyes when he looks perturbed; also his slightly sheepish/uncertain smile.

I missed how and why Scotty convinced Michelle to take that road trip with him.  Did he actually tell her they were going to Burning Man?  And if he meant to bring Michelle and mom together, then why did he tell Michelle to stay in the car?

Not sure if this is where it originated, but the idea of a mom making up wonderful fake memories seemed to be totally lifted from The Jane Austen Book Club (very good and underrated book).

@avclub-0d5db791e260aff09b1844fbbf0b97d5:disqus Yeah, Tom said Sheldon's filet and the kimchi were "really, really good" and that the good parts of his dish outweighed the parts that were poor (i.e., the tempura), whereas Stefan's whole dish was poor.  I agree the editing was a bit misleading.  But I'm glad Sheldon

I think Elizabeth's feelings for Philip are…complicated.  She clearly cares about him at some level, but for her, the mission always comes first. (The kids may blur that single-mindedness a bit, but so far there hasn't been a direct conflict.)  As for the violence of her reaction to his advances, I think her being

I'm with you, idiotking.  Born 1977.  I read that Slate article too and actually wrote a response I can't find now.  Personally I'd call us "Generation e-mail."  Or maybe Generation Netscape.  :-)  We came of age around the same time the Internet did, before it all went to hell.

Ethan Hawke bugs the hell out of me, and yet he has an annoying habit of being in movies I love (and not being half bad in them, either), dating back all the way to Dead Poets Society to Gattaca to Hamlet to Before Sunrise/Before Sunset and next, probably, Before Midnight.  Hell, I even liked that loopy Alfonso

The best film Macbeth is, of course, Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood."  Still chills my blood every time.

Well, I was going to watch this on my DVR tonight but now I fear it's going to make me too mad, so I won't.  In fact I may just not watch until Josie gets kicked off…or the final, whichever comes first.  Actually, if the final ends up including BOTH Josie and Josh, I may not watch at all.

For a guy who identified himself with Duckie, Hubbell certainly cut a swath through Paradise…
