Nicholas Sparks is at this very moment bringing a lawsuit against the wedding planner for intellectual property infringement, claiming this was “future” intellectual property.

Thanks but dictionary definitions aren’t legal definitions. I’ll stick with my state’s legal code.

I just responded to someone else with an example of coercion that is clearly not “immoral”. Refer to that if you care to. Life is not black and white.

You don’t have to worry about me. My understanding of coercion is informed by the fact that I’m familiar with a broad array of behavior, some of which is blatantly immormal, and some of which isn’t, all of which is coercive. Did you know that sexual coercion cases have been made against women who pressured their

Again, he wasn’t suspended for sexual assault. He was suspended for sexual coercion.

This wasn’t an assault case. This was a sexual coercion case. You can be fired or suspended for sexual coercion, if your school or company has a policy against it, even though sexual coercion is not illegal or necessarily immoral. This is what is going over people’s heads.

I agree. But he wasn’t suspended for sexual assault. He was suspended for sexual coercion. Which is not illegal, but can be against company or school policy, and result in being fired or being suspended.

As far as I know there is no agreed upon pronunciation of latinx. I was at a conference this year heavily attended by Latin American feminists. This was discussed.

If you want to argue that Latinx was introduced by gringa feminists then you can. But you’e going to have to prove that. I saw the term first in Mexico City. And I’ve seen it used for over 20 years.

I can’t anticipate any valid argument for Latinx being an anglicization. (I speak Spanish, have a PhD in Spanish and training in the evolution of American Spanish.)

Because when you call someone “Latin” you are subjecting them to an Anglo label. “Latino” is the correct, collective term, used by Latinos to refer to themselves. It, technically, incorporates both feminine and masculine. Latinx is a feminist play on the term.

The thing is, Sofia actually does read Latina to me. I understand why people were upset. Sofia should have come after a princess with dark skin, who was also Latina. But I kind of buy that the design team had it in mind that Sofia was Latina.

Ohhhhhhhhh. (I didn’t get that. But you’re right.)

Marketing to children is inherently wrong. In most Western Countries marketing to children is severely curtailed, or outright prohibited, for a reason. In the same way that adults interacting with children as though they were sexual agents (even if no physical contact occurs) is considered abuse, adults interacting
