You don’t happen to live in Los Angeles, do you? Because that’s where we’ll be in two weeks (literally just packed up our stuff and shipped it out, so there’s no turning back now).

My husband and I are about to move across the country where he’ll be working from home full time and I’ll be working in an office a few days a week, the rest from home. Slightly unrelated to the topic at hand, but how has it been making friends? Do you make couple-y friends or do you seek out people to hang out

Try a high end department store! I ended up getting my wedding dress (technically an evening gown) for about $500 at Neiman Marcus.

I wish I could hire you to react to things for me IRL. You say the things I want to say in such a blatant way - it’s great.

We’re banning behavior, not ideas.

I think most people feel this way to an extent, especially in comepetive industries. My husband’s pursuing a career in film (something very few people succeed at) and even he recognizes it’d be 100x harder if he were a woman or POC.

Yup, exactly. The whole, “Oh, I work with men so much better - women are too petty/bitchy/emotional.”

It would be nice if we could only promote the best candidate for any given position, but it’s not certain that it’s easy to even identify who that is.

Using this post as an excuse to declare my love for Schmidt.

There’s totally complacency in women’s rights - I have so many conversations with people who think feminism should just be called egalitarianism because women have it so great now. I like to think it’s better than it’s been in the past, but it’s by no means an even playing field.

It’s like, my favorite thing in the world to inform geeky dudes that the first science fiction novel was written by a woman and what do you mean you haven’t read Frankenstein - you call yourself a scifi fan?!

It’s just so ridiculous sometimes. I’m not surprised cycling has a sexist culture, but it’s also like come on. They’re bicycles. How can you make that sexist? But crappy people find a way.

LOVE IT. Tom Hardy approves (but in a cool, nonchalant way).

Whenever I see her or Anita Sarkeesian’s name in the news, I get this queasy feeling in my stomach. The vitriolic reaction to them and anyone who dares agree with them is sickening.

I want in on this.

Plus, it’s not like higher cost always means better working conditions, either.

I agree - more needs to be written about gender discrimination in eSports. Hearthstone is my jam, and it sucks that so few women succeed/make any real money off of it.

More love for Betty.

I thought about asking mine if she had seen the new Avengers movie, I don’t know why I didn’t. Oh right, it’s because I’m awkward and over think things. But good suggestion!
