It seems like it would make an uncomfortable ethical problem less uncomfortable if you decide to rationalise an act with the potential to cause harm to others by deciding the testimonies of the people telling you they’ve been harmed are unreliable. I’m not on board with that at all.

It’s not a punishment at all, there’s nothing retributive about this. He’s being held because of the demonstrated danger he poses to others, and will be released when he no longer poses that danger.

led to believe that unauthorized digital resales threaten the existence of the games industry as we know it

Your recollection of US case law differs from mine. EULAs have largely been found to be enforceable unless they contain what the court evaluates to be unfair terms.

Oops, I wanted to reply to this one too.

Breach of contract isn’t illegal, but it does allow for penalty clauses to be enforced (like key revocation). The problem I mentioned in the previous comment is the contract is with the bundle seller, not the developer. The seller has no mechanism to invalidate keys.

I’m not making an assumption, I’m describing first-hand observation as a game developer, as well as the observations of other developers. I don’t have documentation to offer because it belongs to my employer at the time.

The terms of service might state otherwise but that condition doesn’t actually hold any legal merit

Where do you think unauthorised sellers get retail keys from? It’s not from Steam because they don’t sell retail keys, and it’s not from the developer because then they wouldn’t be unauthorised. It shouldn’t be from charity bundles because it’s part of the terms of most if not all of them that the keys can’t be

A lot of people hate fictional images of things they’ve built up in their heads, it doesn’t really say much. The number of Americans that don’t know the difference between socialism and communism and think they’re basically the same is a good example.

Epic seems to have found the limit for cosmetic pricing.

The social conservative supported by the US to oust the democratically elected left-wing government and then went on to persecute anyone left of him. I don’t think 1% will cut it there.

Let’s be honest, Florida Joker is probably an anarcho-capitalist.

Non-fictional at least, but can’t find anything about a genocide from him. Still, he’s from Florida so I wouldn’t put it past him.

Hard to say what they would have done with full freedom though, they never really had much of a stable to begin with. Aside from COD it’s just movie tie-in games and sports games until you get back to Max Steel on the Dreamcast 23 years ago.

More, more!

Nice. So our list now includes four communists, four conservatives, three fascists and an imperialist, roughly along a 4-left, 7-right divide. Strangely not a single liberal so far. Weird.

Hunting was literally one of the first things I tried to do in GTA:O, because I wanted to be in the same world but away from other people for a bit to acclimate. I remember being really disappointed that it wasn’t possible.

Keep going, you’re only at 19 so far.
