I am able to reason with my oldest, but my youngest is not reasonable. I have raised them the same way in the same supportive, loving home. They are just not the same. All kids are different and until you have a child who darts into traffic you will not understand.

Except that it can work, does work in certain situations. You can’t make a blanket statement like that. Hitting/beating obviously do not work.
