The V50 is nothing like the P2 R-cars. The R-cars are high-strung, eat tires, take some maintenance, and have both suspension (4c) and AWD (bevel gear) systems that eat money every 90,000 miles. The V50 is much closer to an old-school, not-highly-strung 240, albeit with a turbo. Source: owned a 2007 S60R and miss it.
