I've only seen the original version once, but that party scene with the slowly unraveling string has stuck pretty indelibly in my mind. Such a perfect mixture of humor and suspense.

That scene drove me fucking crazy in the theater. It falls victim to that old movie trope: the more a character explains a plan, the more likely the plan is going to end badly. The difference between this film and others, however, is how long it tries to S T R E T C H the scene out for tension, when all it really does…

@orangeshoes I agree, but thinking about this has now made me REALLY want a Scott Aukerman-hosted episode of SNL. That would be something to behold.

^ Speaking if bad kid actors, I saw Shane for the first time recently, and boy oh boy was that kid's performance terrible. Maybe it's a little late to be bagging on it, but it really floors me that a movie revered as a classic could have a performance that bad in a character so important to the story.

Agreed about the CBB Holiday Spectacular: good, but inevitably disappointing. The one from two years ago, Episode 85, remains the pinnacle of CDR/CBB for me, so every year I can't help but hope for another grand slam that it (understandably) has yet to deliver.
