But how old are you? You sound fairly young. I didn't want kids when I was in my 20's but after I was in my 30's I changed my mind. People can change their minds a lot during that time period and I think that accounts for the hesitancy in sterilizing someone who is young and has no children.

They're probably afraid you'll change your mind later. In a few years when you're 30 they probably won't care as much.
