Hellboy is still my favorite graphic novel series. I’ll check this out but man I was Mignola was doing the art too. He and Dave Stewart are phenomenal together.
Trying to decide which those are. Half of Jedi is good, Empire is great, the original is good, Force Awakens was good, Rogue One was alright. But my count that’s about 3.75 good ones, 4 tops rounded up.
I just started and am halfway through The Exorcist, which seemed seasonally appropriate. It’s excellent (I love the movie) and and surprised it took me this long to pick it up. Anyone read the follow up, Legion?
If anyone hasn’t played it already, the Stranger Things iOS game is awesome. It’s a great mashup of different games from SNES, most notably Zelda. It’s free (no IAPs required at all) and totally worth a few hours to play through.
Likewise, a late scene in which Jake appears ready to sacrifice himself for the good of humanity—which Devlin works hard to sell as a genuine possibility—is preemptively undermined by Jake’s having promised his young daughter (Talitha Bateman) that he would safely return.
Kind of reminds me off of something from The Startingline’s first two albums on Drive Thru records, at least the melody specifically the chorus. It’s okay. Kids will like it I guess.
I had no idea Tamblyn and Cross were almost 20 years apart in age difference. Can you imagine meeting some 10 year old when you are 30 and saying “huh, one day I’m gonna marry that kid”.
Oh wait. Donald Trump could.
To be fair to Kilmer he’s been very sick, and it’s nice to just see him in movies again. May explain the ADR.
Also he is very active on Reddit. Here’s a sample of one of his own posts (yes it’s him) and he always turns up and answers questions in the comments. It’s always a treat to randomly see a /u/OfficialValKilmer…
He’s tired of the Kevin Kline comparisons.
I am suggesting your anecdotal evidence of sexist women and racist minorities is a really tone deaf answer to this article, but if it makes you feel like this is Yi’s fault, more power to you. You do you, man.
David Cross got away with that joke because people in Yi’s shoes deal with that everyday and historically have had one option and that’s to just let it slide, because they’re the minority of people. I don’t know what ethnicity you are, but I am white, and my wife is black, and I can tell you two things:
1. White guys…
I think you’re really reaching to try and defend Cross against Yi for a movie that hasn’t even been released, and that you have no knowledge of apparently.
If you are a certain ethnicity that has a history of racism against you in America, and someone comes up to you you have never met and says racist things to your face, that’s racism. It comes in many forms.
It’s a dumb stupid joke to you, because there’s no personal, or historical connection to it for you. Someone like…
You’ve ruined my day Dan. You’ve ruined all of our days.
I don’t see how her being in a movie about evil Nazi puppets (from the Puppet Master series no less) is offensive to anyone? The Nazis are the bad guys. That’s like calling Indiana Jones offensive to Jewish people.
If David Cross is “always on” and is always in his standup character, maybe that’s his thing to go…
Man, how’s being so oppressed feel?
I think part of humor is being shocking and offensive.
No, it’s a chic way of saying he’s 40 he should know better. She does have big glasses though she’s probably some hipster SJW I bet right?
Okay AV Club, next up, let’s tackle David Cross’ racist comments to Charlyne Yi. I know you love that guy around here almost as much as Patton, but I’d be interested to see what people thought.
