I don't see how banning the iPhone would help them. I'm quite sure that people will continue citizen journalism, with or without their iPhones. The iPhone was simply a tool that made it easier. In fact, the only way to stop citizen journalism is to block the internet and ban cameras.

You realize that metro isn't the main UI, right? You can still access the windows 7-era interface. Metro is an optional thing for people using the OS on tablets. They are not forcing you to live on metro. Besides, with faster boot times and whatnot, I don't see why you wouldn't want to upgrade.

..you don't have a rubiks cube? Doesn't everyone have one of them? I have a Guhong, since I spend a lot of time speed solving mine, but ordinarily, a cheap cube from the store should do fine.

All this is great, but this is why I hate living in a poor country. My speed is the max available to consumers, and I only get ~450 kB/s.
