I agree. When people review films like their all on the same level of intent I find it frustrating. "The Avengers just didn't have enough personal drama, like Gone with the Wind. It didn't have anything important to say like Shindler's List."

The less favorable reviews seem to be of the "not enough like the original Alien" lazy-ass variety.
I have had a theory that they silver bottoms to his shoes were intensional to better map his footing for green screen/CGI backgrounds. It helps them better determine if it looks like he's floating or making contact with a surface.
I understand you can't actually kill the Doctor ... but I would imagine in this wonderful universe, every God damned villainous race would have to have as their first two general orders be the following:
Thingamajigabobs in Black! Try and fit that into a rap soliloquy.
"Inside Scientology" is a fascinating (and occasionally frightening) read. Since reading that book, information like this dove-tails nicely with my understanding of the history of this "movement". Its like filling in the blanks for stuff not covered in the book.
Should it be called "People in Black"? No. God damnit! No. Let's step back from the polictical correctness squad. Are we going to rename the popular Marvel comics franchise "X-People"? I think not.
See ... here's where its interesting. Ridley Scott finally answered what a lot of people had been wondering ... Is Deckard an android? Ridley said yes—Deckard is an android as well.
Well, ain't that some shit. Hmph!
^^ This is why it was moved. The 3D post-processing angle is a smoke-screen. Fact is they had a very small window of opportunity for this movie to make money based on where it was sandwiched on the calendar.
The fact that we're getting a Wolverine 2 must be a testament to whatever remaining star power Hugh Jackman has and the enduring allure of the character. Because after that first one ... lots of sour faces leaving the theater.
I'm really impressed and hopeful for the private spaceflight industry.
Um, no they don't look just like an ant. They're HUGE. Do a video search of idiots volunteering to get stung.
This is brilliant. My coworker and I laughed and hugged repeatedly. Now, I would just like to know where I can find (or rather avoid) these fuckers on the high-end of the scale.
Can I just say that anyone who thought that picture was of someplace out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is somewhat predisposed to buying bridges in New York City. There is a man in a CANOE in the middle of the ocean? Really? He paddled out there, did he? LOL!
I certainly grant extra credit to films with "something to say", but have long ago required said element to enjoy movies—especially action films. Star ratings ... aggregate review scores ... etc. Whatever ... my scale is much more simple, like a thumbs up or down. I'm either entertained or not. With the Avengers I was…
I suppose its a toss-up between The Dark Knight and The Avengers. I won't quibble much ... I just really thought The Dark Knight had one too many Joker gambits. It started to get ridiculous. Movie coulda been trimmed some.
The first season and a half of FRINGE gave me the impression they had a vague idea of what they wanted the show to be about. But season two having been moved to a new night probably really threw a monkey wrench into their plans as they were suddenly competing in prime time against some heavy hitters. So, they had to…
Really looking forward to this one too. Lanky Spider-Man>Firehydrant Spider-Man. Smart-ass too! Yes!
