Just a quick note: on the headline, it probably should be "Choose powerline for distance and/or obstruction". I recently moved my modem and router into my office in the basement. The layout of my house and office has my desk tucked into a corner where the foundation juts out, creating obstruction to half of my

No, we don't ALL do it. I've never hate-watched anything. If I don't like it, I don't watch it.

Some other thoughts from a web developer:

Udpate: While Linksys' marketing materials claim that you can install open source firmware, it seems there have been some technical issues since release, and most open source projects haven't been fully ported to the router yet.

I can't seem to get the textures to display properly on the planets... Anybody else having this issue? Everything else seems to work great.

Still more plausible than religion...

It doesn't appear as though the mailbox switch is rechargeable. Sure, you could use 3 rechargeable AA batteries, but that would get annoying going out to change them all the time. If I read the screen on the tablet correctly, it's at 4.8V and you can get a 4.8V solar panel from Amazon for about $15.00. Not sure how

What, exactly, does everybody think it would take to pull people away from Facebook? I'd love to not use it, but all of my family and friends who are scattered across the country are on it and it's pretty much the only way we stay in touch. Any new social platform needs widespread acceptance, not just niche

uTorrent seems to be one of the worst perpetrators of this. In their setup, you have about 3 different "offers", all with different buttons/checkboxes located in different places, sometimes flip flopping the answers to purposely confuse you. Another thing I've seen installers do is deactivate the label of the

I bought my MX100 on sale from Newegg for $99. This was a couple of months ago. Immediately after I bought it though, TigerDirect had it on sale for $89... and man is this drive AWESOME!

As others have mentioned, Kingston pulled a bait and switch. I own a Kingston 120GB SSDnow and I also own two older Corsair's and a newer MX100 256GB from Crucial. Both the Crucial and the Corsairs have substantially faster speeds, not just on paper. Granted, you're right that the price of the Kingston's is

As is (potentially) Enceladus.

It's reasons like this that I don't scoff at the idea of sending vessels to Venus to study if lifeforms could exist in the upper atmosphere where pressures and temperatures are thought to be conducive to life.

I dug a hole once in Minecraft...

I used the messages portion all the time. I actually liked both apps rolled into one. I'm a developer, so I can understand the reasons why they might want to break it off, but when my friends and family are scattered across the continent, it's just easier to do mass messaging than individual texts or mass texts

I actually bought that exact dust buster about 15 minutes before seeing this article. I had it in my cart from a couple days ago and I saw it dropped in price. SCORE!

I can't be the only one who thinks that grilled cheese looks like its covered in mold... Thoroughly unappetizing.

I've been using this app since last year to stream to my Xbox 360. It worked amazingly well until the latest Google Music update. The cast icon is now gone, so you can no longer cast to your device. There's been quite a few reviews asking the devs for an update, but they're maintaining radio silence. Does anybody

I use "Auto HD for YouTube" and "Define" extensions. Auto HD for YouTube is pretty self-explanatory and might not be everyone's cup of tea especially given the current battle between sites like Netflix/YouTube and ISP's and also imposed bandwidth caps from the ISP's. But my ISP luckily doesn't nerf YouTube

The Science Channel was the last great bastian of hope that a network can survive on thoughtful, informative information. They've now gone the way of networks like Discovery and History and I swear 90% of their programming is stupid alien abduction and UFO shows. Incredibly lame.
