When you mentioned Task Manager, I instantly thought of Windows Task Manager, which I already had open :) But yes, looking in Chromes Task Manager, I have 11 tabs open now, 17 processes are running. Google Docs extension doesn't have its own process (probably because it piggybacks on the management process?), but

"meta-particles"...

Something that I just learned recently that was hogging a lot of memory on some weaker systems that I have in the office is Chrome with Extensions enabled. Each extension in Chrome invokes an additional process. So if you're like me and use AdBlock Plus, Auto HD for YouTube, and Google Docs, then as soon as you

I have a home server with 32 GB in it. I game from it, but even Skyrim with 100+ mods running doesn't get much above 2 GB (if you're being insane with mods, of course you can hit the 3.1 GB crash limit). I have 8 GB assigned to a RAMdisk for use with transcoding media through Plex. It eliminates a problem that I

I was coming here to pen this status. :) Kudos to you.

Has anyone tried to price match Micro Center's i7-4770k deal at NCIX.com? The cart will let you price match it to $199.99, but then it gets submitted for them to review. I'm guessing they won't let you, but it's worth a shot.

I had to write a program for storing some data and it required ultra-fast query execution. So I made a RAMdisk, threw XAMPP on there and it's incredible. Hundreds of thousands of queries are handled in a fraction of the time it takes a spinning rust HDD. We then offload the data periodically to an actual HDD and

I loved Winamp and have used it since its inception. I'm really sad right now, but if you'll excuse me, I have a llama's ass that I'm going to continue feverishly whipping. :'(

I saw a 4K 46" TV on display in Fry's and it's absolutely stunning. There's literally no way to convey how amazing these things look unless you see them in person.

I would definitely not recommend the Seagate Backup Plus, unless you don't care about the speed at which it operates. Reading and writing files on the Backup Plus is much, much slower than the Seagate Expansion model and the Expansion is typically $99 - $110 on either Newegg or Amazon.

I get what you're saying and agree that for city-living folks, you shouldn't own a car. I wouldn't if I lived in a city, but a) I hate big cities and b) I love wide open roads and the guttural roar of a high-performance V8. :)

Awesome desk! I really want to build a custom one, but I have 11 thumbs and no working knowledge of engineering. I think I'd end up building a really awful desk, but in my head it sounds cool.

JETPACK! Transportation mode of the future!

Holy crap, how did this not win?!

Not really because Cokes logo has remained the same since before you were born. Pepsi on the other hand has repeatedly undergone logo updates which is subjective as to whether or not it hurts their recognizability. I think it just speaks to how strong the branding for Coke is.

I've re-ran the cables in my home server build 3 times now and am still not satisfied. :/

Very true. I used the "pea" method on my last build, but I found out the first time I did it that it was too much. Instead of a full-sized pea, it should be slightly less than a pea, which you illustrated pretty well in your video.

But.... but... metal! \m/

This video from Tek Syndicate is the best video I've found for applying thermal paste. He shows all the known methods and why you shouldn't use most of them and he uses clear plastic so you can see exactly how they spread.
