The racist elements of this movie are such a shame (as they are anywhere, but here especially), because the rest is so thoroughly delightful. The combination of the animals, the voices who animated them, and the visuals, is just stellar.

It really looks like a tattoo, though, doesn’t it? Ugh, I hope not.

Yep, this is it right here. I have a family member off his meds right now, and the decline has been precipitous and harrowing to watch. The older Kanye gets, the worse he’ll become, too.

I went there, too.

My closest friend still lives there, and when she described how much she has lost since 2016 because of this very thing — true colors revealed — we both just cried. It’s not only friends and coworkers she’d trusted for decades, but most of her immediate family, and with them traditions, a sense of safety, everything.

This is the best handle on Jezebel, by far. “My valve! My valve!”

I grew up there -- left 20+ years ago -- and I think the rest of the country underestimates the level and scariness of racism in Indiana. No matter how bad it seems from the news, no matter how bad Pence himself is, the truth when you live there is much, much more alarming. I used to go back to visit family a few

The house of evil is BURNT TO THE GROUND.” My favorite line in all Behind The Musics.

Well, bless. Do I want to understand such people? PROBABLY.

Gella, I think you’ll understand when I say that while I find today’s Dirt Bag interesting, I continue to want more takes on CATS the Movie. I have not yet tired of them.

I’ve been waiting for someone to clarify whether the cockroach people were real, and if they’re actually eaten by a cat who unzips her own fur. WAIT. She unzips her own fur?!?

Wait, that reminds me: what about the cockroaches?? The first review I read on this site mentioned cockroach/people, and I’ve never seen reference to them again. Are they . . . does that really happen?

I loved the whole review, but the recording of the laughter in the theater brought tears to my eyes, as if I were there, and that too is the Lort’s work. That little bit of extra.

How can she even LIVE WITH HERSELF after this?

I feel *exactly* the same way about musicals. They just mortify me, and I’m so embarrassed for the actors. The whole concept of people living and talking in a realistic environment suddenly bursting into song? WTF? I hate how you can tell the actors are all just waiting to SING! and have their big moments, when a play

It depends on what your definition of “is” is.

I love this, because it’s got funeral drama (always good) AND a woman who was just waiting for the moment her ex couldn’t fight back. My mom crashed my dad’s funeral, too, and just at the moment his wife had draped herself over his casket. It was everything.

It’s what I’m here for, superintendent.

That’s so sad. It’s scary, too, to imagine what it feels like, carrying such grief around for so long.

Happy birthday, and I hope it’s a great night. I’m enjoying my 50s quite a lot, for reasons that all have to do with what falls away and ceases to matter. It’s easier to breathe, somehow. Enjoy that scotch, too.
