All buyers of new sports cars are a bit wrong in the head, god bless 'em. It's incredibly rare to meet someone in a brand new Porsche/Corvette/Ferrari/whatever that has real love for for the hardware. It's always funny to me that people are willing to pay so much money for something that exists only to be driven

Plus it forces them to actually, y'know, interact with people rather than just emerging from their Crown Vics from time to time to dispense justice.

That all makes sense, though the rear seat requirement has always been a bit baffling to me. Maybe it's out there, but I haven't seen compelling data showing that the rear seat is safer.

"Snappy" for jailbroken iPhones is super. It loads almost instantly from the lock screen using whatever gesture/button combo you like.

318i sedans drive like God intended...a Miata with 4 seats and a roof. The two cars feel really similar. Light and precise and can keep up with much faster cars in the corners. You forgive their slowness.

I will listen to anything that features Oliver Sacks regularly without complaint.

Planet Money is easily the smartest spoken word content you'll find, at least in American English. Almost every episode of the podcast leaves me feeling like I understand just a little bit more about how screwed up the financial world is.

I'd hit it. Fugly dash, but the rest of the interior is probably still a step up from most...certainly from every other $14K car.

They've been doing this since 1977. The giggling and snorting has gotten out of control and the whole thing feels like they're phoning it in these days. Like many of the sacred cow NPR shows, they've been on the air about 10 or 15 years too long. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION.

Bill Gates is more ethical than Steve Jobs, for sure. Microsoft moreso than Apple, though?

There's no reason you couldn't plug it in to your OBD port, though, and get LOTS of cool data spit out at you. :)

Maybe it's just me, but mine has never seen an honest 30 mpg. I get more like 28 on the highway, or 22 mixed.

Why would he want to get out?

Obviously CP. A true $14K Caddy would be awesome, though.

I've said it before: I'm glad there are folks out there willing to pay a premium to help fund the R&D that'll make this technology usable to me when the oil finally runs out. Way to take one for the team, Leaf owners.

This is such a stupid QOTD. At the end of the day, even a McLaren F1 is just a car.

Christ, what an asshole.

For $500, if it's relatively unrusty it's worth it FOR SURE. How hard could it possibly be to rewire the whole thing and replace the SPICA with megasquirt?
