I don’t really mind missed calls, but I do mind umps getting their knickers in a twist when someone tells them they missed a call.

If the umpires’ union doesn’t want to get all of their jobs taken by robot umps they should probably tell their members to have a little humility when they blow calls instead of this crybaby shit.

I know they’re not very good but I love watching the A’s. I live nowhere near any teams so I get my choice of allegiance and Oakland’s pretty much my team these days.

Yet another milestone on the road to the Columbus Blue Jackets being a real NHL franchise: having a player get leveled by a dirty hit from the Bruins.

One of my bucket-list items is to visit all of the MLB parks, but I may just count the time I saw Springsteen there as “good enough” for Wrigley.

TBH I’m amazed it’s taken this long for there to be a major controversy about no-touch icing.

You’re not wrong - fifty cross checks to the kidneys like that go unpenalized in every playoff game. Hockey refs have a bad habit of penalizing consequences instead of actions, so the fact Oshie fell down and hit the boards awkwardly is the only reason this was a penalty at all.

I went to a Mariners game yesterday and all they did in the stretch was Take Me Out To The Ball Game, and it was heaven.

If he’s enough of a vet he can reach Votto status where he gets to randomly be an asshole to fans too!

“I’m curious if anyone can figure out how he could reasonably get from Point A to Point B with all of those threads.” And if they can, let GRRM know immediately, he’d appreciate it a lot.

Yup, last night pretty much burned me out on the playoffs for a while. Until the refs call penalties consistently and thoroughly instead of “managing the game” and “putting their whistles away because it’s the playoffs” the NHL’s always going to be a sideshow.

The flipside is, if the calls were correct, why do they care if a player argues? What does it hurt to have an environment where everyone involved can openly voice their opinions about what happens on the playing surface?

If the sports leagues don’t want players and coaches “impugning the integrity of officiating” maybe they should put some kind of accountability in place for screamingly incompetent refs and umpires. The idea that officials are sacrosanct is just bizarre to me. Do the leagues think that if players don’t say anything

Man, this is giving me flashbacks to being a kid in ‘93 watching Pavel Bure make everyone else on the ice look like pylons.

How, exactly, a $1 Million Magic Tournament harassed the woman as the headline suggests it did remains unclear.

Man, fuck paperless tickets. I’ll take dealing with scalpers over dealing with a single-purpose app any day.

What the hell is it with American white people and doughy pizza with too much stuff on it I swear to God.

Hinch doesn’t mince words, I love it.

“Defending the front of the net” is definitely one way to describe what Chara’s doing, good job color guy.
