Great call Neville!

No argument, but they also aren’t near as expensive as the Cadillacs are. They also aren’t trying to compete with the more established names in the market.

To be fair, market value is just that... what those in the market are willing to pay for a good or service. In this case, the ask price is well above the market value, hence the low sales.

Dude, this! If GM would have sold them, they’d have had to provide complete support of the product line for 10 years, including maintenance of the tooling for relevant body parts. They’d also have to keep inventory for certain wear parts even longer.

Moreso than being an asshole, being able to blend in can be a blessing. My STi is not exactly unique (2011 WRB hatch w/ red mudflaps and a roof rack), but it does stand out. As those above have mentioned, this is a real issue when passing cops, especially when going with the flow of traffic means going significantly

Shots fired

Dude, so much this! The internet is literally the best thing to happen to wrenching since the advent of the wrench.

“Have you been injured in an accident? Call His ‘The Hammer’ stigness today!”

Not to call it good, bad, or otherwise, but wasn’t Trump pretty much elected on the “Make stuff more better for manufacturers/consumers in rich countries”, namely the USA? Sounds like whoever is working on that proposal is working to that end.

What’s really going to be interesting is when the fed plays with the market again, increases interest rates closer to where the should be, and brings bond rates back above “Half a pack of gum and a waterlogged baseball card”. I’m thinking we’re going to see a lot of institutional investors getting out of the stock

Dude, you’re ice skating uphill trying to explain a fairly even handed position to a pack of populists. (most of what’s below is pretty much expounding upon what you’ve said, but I felt like jumping into the fray here, because it’s Friday afternoon and my work’s looking about as appetizing as regurgitated Barium Dye)

While I won’t argue with your comments about which labor protection rules carry over from Japan, I still assert that my assessment still holds true against the culture within the employees’ nation being a barrier to comparing Japanese and American made cars. I was basing this off of the notion that companies can

It’s $0.60 to $0.90/gallon more where I am. It’s a little ridiculous, TBH.

Don’t say that too loud. I’m looking to change my STi over in the near-ish future, and I don’t want that sweet, sweet, government subsidized race gas to dry up before I’ve had my fun.

I hate to break it to you, but Chrysler Corporation has been churning out crap cars since looooooooong before Marichone picked them up for a song.

Not crap all over your rant, but what about all the Toyotas (IN, KY, TX), Subarus (IN), Nissans (TN, MO), and Hondas (OH) made in the US. Unless I’m mistaken, all of these plants are non-union, all of the plants I’ve referred to have way above average vehicle quality (industry metrics), employee satisfaction, and low

Key differences between your WWII analogy and the Middle East:
- Most European / Asian nations had some form of National Unity, meaning that they didn’t immediately devolve into infighting as soon as the Allies stopped dropping bombs
- The aforementioned Europeans / Asians were willing participants in the rebuilding

Seems like an odd way to look at it to me... Whether or not you buy new or used, doesn’t change the fact that you’re buying with post-tax dollars. Furthermore, any difference in price is going to be realized in post tax dollars. I.E. if you spend $3k less on a used car than you would on a new car, you’re not

I’m not sure where you live, but in the states I’ve lived, you still pay the full brunt of the sales tax on any vehicle you purchase, new or used, based on the purchase price. Basically, if you bought a 15 Y.O. Merc. S Class at $15k or a brand new Fit at $15K, you’d be paying the same amount of sales tax. I suppose
