The problem of their proof of concept is that its not doing anything that hasn't been done before. As of right now you have to directly look at the screen in order to see the 'hologram'. Its the step of going into the 3rd dimension outside of the screen thats the hard part.

How is this different then the recent 3d holograms that involve focusing laser light to excite the oxygen into a plasma state? - This seems like its more of an optical illusion that will require you to stare directly at the screen, and not offscreen like hollywood depictions.
