And they are free to decide they don’t want to play football for a school that they don’t feel acts in their best interests. Just like anyone is free to breach a contract if it will cost them more to perform than it will to breach.
They’re not employees, there’s no enforceable employment type contract. They can maybe take away their scholarships. But I would assume these kids know that risk.
