I think the interior is really great, in truth!
I think the interior is really great, in truth!
Good, don’t buy one, leave prices low so I can buy one! I really love 996s, particularly the narrow-body 3.4 liter models. Visually I think they’re the perfect visual reset and update for the car after the entire 1965 to 1998 arc of fender growth and wing-sprouting, and the sleek, narrow-fender, unadorned look of the…
They’re really nice places to be...the quality is really good inside. And if you can get on the “everything is round” mindset of the late 90s, it’s actually really good design too.
actually the interior is quite nice when you sit inside. Everything is within arms reach, and it just... works. And doesn’t creak or rattle a bit, even after 16 years on mine it is still rock-solid.
Add a new CarPlay headunit and boom - a 997.2 becomes a car that has all the features of a new Volkswagen GTI.
p.s. Don’t get me wrong, though. The 996 is a cool car. I’d probably still pick it over a 991, despite the interior, although I’d probably pick a 987 over just about any of them. Man, I miss that car.
Yeah, that’s going to happen with any infotainment screen over time. At least the 997 one can be dealt with in a few ways.
That’s exactly what a syphilis would say
Maybe it’s the wood trim mine’s optioned with, but I don’t understand the hate for the interior. Especially compared to older 911s, the interior ain’t bad.
It’s not the cheapness so much as the very dated, late ‘90s curves and lines. It’s the only 911 interior that I don’t think will ever look the good kind of “classic.” FWIW, the 991 interior is my second least favorite. It’s just too slanted towards luxury. In the water-cooled era, I think Porsche threaded the…
I would ad that it’s the last “dated” interior in a 911 that’s going to okay forever. After the 996 we started getting big LCD screens, those things look ancient when they’re a year or two old, roll the clock forward 20-30 years and it will be the automotive interior equivalent of parachute pants
Sat in one, drove it. Interior was bla and 90s but the car was great so who cares
It is not a hot take to say that the 996 911 is the best looking 911 ever.
Thankfully I grew up around British motor car shows and airplane shows, as such; DO NOT TOUCH was instilled at an early age. My wife if she sees an awesome paint job her first reaction is to touch it... after 20+ years I think I have (mostly) broken that habit.
lol, you cite personal responsibility and then want automated law enforcement How about this for personal responsibility. I am going to speed. If I cause a traffic crash, I will take responsibility for it. Until then, my speeding has caused no harm by which preventative punishment should be justifiable.
Fuck off, fascist bootlicker.
Not to mention they don’t give the driver a ticket, they give the car the ticket and put the onus on the owner of the vehicle to identify the person committing the violation vs the law enforcement who, I thought, were supposed to be the one assigning blame to rule breakers.
Am I allowed to dislike speed cameras if I don’t speed? I’m not saying that I don’t speed, but I keep it to 5 over, so I don’t live in fear of speed cameras. I still dislike them. Regardless of precedent-setting rulings, they are unconstitutional, and they are “gotcha” enforcement that does nothing to curtail…
You know what makes you a douche? Everything you’ve said.
