VW has branding in the USA that specifically states how it is pronounced here, so the American pronunciation is correct. Porsche has gone to the length of producing a video on the proper pronunciation as it is part of their branding and also happens to be a family name.

Drive a 1M or a 135is, the M2 just will not compare in terms of steering or driving pleasure.
