I agree with everyone who commented back to me. 996s are woefully underrated and I would gladly daily a C4, C4S, or Turbo, ideally as a cabrio. In fact, I made that proposal (about 4 times tbh) and got shot down SO HARD by my better half. But for a weekend car/best 911 of all time, 993 for sure.

If you see one in person I disagree.

I thought the same thing when first seeing the pictures, but once you see it in the flesh... er, sheet metal, it’s got a much better presence. Still an old man car for sure, but I think it looks better than a CT6 or XTS... which may be the problem, since it FOR SURE doesn’t look as good as an A8, S Class, 7 series or

Air cooled owns, I love the sound when turned on. But the sum of the parts, the 996 is beast.

Ehhhhh I love them but no 996 is the best Porsche ever made. Honor would go to the 993 C2s coupe, IMO. The sound can’t be beaten, the driving experience is “easy” in a modern sense yet still analog, and it’s such a timeless design.

The HID bixenon headlights don’t have the amber piece. You needed to get the Sport Technik Pack (which also included premium sound) to get them.

I hope iTunes sticks with the current format as I both subscribe to Apple Music >and< regularly preorder/buy albums. But I do realize I’m probably not representative of the typical user.

996 Mk1 C4 Millennium Edition is the best Porsche ever made

I love the 996 too :) They had to modernize the car eventually. It was either water cooled 911 or no 911. It is something that a lot of people miss.

No. You fucking hate that piece of shit. It is horrible to drive. It eats IMS bearings! Stay away (until I buy mine at rock bottom prices).

All I care about with the interior is that it feels good to drive and the seats are comfortable. The 996 is fine in that regard. The dashboard is a little ugly and cheap, sure, but otherwise the gauge cluster looks good to me and steering wheel is fine (as is the stick). The early model 996 also didn’t come with

I don’t necessarily love the 996, but I do like them and would certainly own one if I had the space and means to do so. The C4S, with the turbo widebody, looked fantastic, and every 996 I have driven were enjoyable. I agree that the non-amber turnsignals really do modernize and improve the look of the 996 generation.

Yes.

I don’t “fucking love” anything about the 996, but it’s nowhere near as bad as everyone acts like.

You’re in luck then, because nobody wants them and they’re dirt cheap so you pretty much have your pick of the litter lol. Vs. me, I prefer the 993 and I couldn’t even afford a Carrera 2 with 100K miles on it they’re so god damned fucking expensive.

It is a wonderful car to drive (hence my post below) but there IS a reason it’s not loved. The 993 and prior had a very utilitarian interior which was great - all about the drive, aged well, no nannies, etc. The 996 was the first step in modernizing that interior and they made some really questionable choices in

Yes! I really came around on the 996. I think it aged very well. I especially love the 996 turbo, the back looks awesome and the whole car lends itself well to strong colors. A 996 turbo in fire engine red? Yes, please!

I must admit the running eggs are nice from a certain angle and heavily photoshopped/studio-lit.

Awful. And at the time, no one liked it. They only sold 175,000 of them.

I’m just gonna come out and say it. I fucking love the 996. And I love the fried egg headlights (as long as you get rid of the amber shit). Fuck the haters.
