“The astronauts weren’t bored when they went to the moon”

There really isn’t clear-cut criteria and i think Keighly defended the inclusion fairly well where someone who hadn’t given it much thought would say “well it’s a pixel game”

I think I’d say it’s my third favorite AC, and my favorite non-Ezio one. Wasn’t excepting much out of it but really enjoyed it.

Hmm... updated, but not to include The Talos Principle 2. A shame.

Yeah I think calling this a “remaster” is the problem here. Just call it an enhanced port or something.

The funny thing about BDSP is that for the people who wanted more significant changes, Legends Arceus was right there. They made a very faithful remake and a remake that was a total reimagining and people got mad that there wasn’t an option halfway between those.

I can’t see him publicly saying that but I can imagine him deciding that viewers wouldn’t care about it and skipping it for that reason

I don’t watch most Pokemon things but this is really cute and seems really chill, I’ll definitely check it out

What are you talking about? I wish people like you would stop being ridiculous and just use the words you want to use, “good” and “bad.” The new games are 3D. There’s literally no argument you can make that they’re not 3D or that they don’t “look 3D.” Just say you think they look bad and you want good looking games.

kind of the problem with a VGA right?

I think the definition of “indie” is vague enough that anything big enough won’t be considered “indie” and anything small enough will be considered “indie.” See Dave the Diver’s inclusion in the “best independent game” category and Baldur’s Gate 3's exclusion from it. Any “indie” game that’s good enough to win GotY

I mean technically I doubt there’s anything disallowing an indie game from being GotY but realistically yeah it’s never going to happen. Imagine the uproar from out-of-touch fanboys if a pixel game or 5-hour puzzle game won GotY. The VGA doesn’t want that.

Not a specific game being snubbed but it’s crazy to me that there isn’t a “puzzle” category. I’ve been playing the Talos Principle 2 and really enjoying it. It launched close enough to the game awards that I don’t think it could be considered, but even if it had released earlier in the year I’m not sure what category

If the game had a full-blown character creator with personality options, then it would fit better, in my opinion

A few of these looked cute, Howl, Moonstone Island, and A Highland Song have caught my interest. Also still looking forward to the Gecko Gods, glad to see that again! Nice to see Outer Wilds getting a Switch port too.

Also I think that including a game so anticipated would be a disservice to the other titles. These indie showcases are a good way to give some visibility to less well known titles and having a hyped-up sequel to a popular that would dominate the conversation feels counterproductive.

I was worried beforehand that TotK would just feel like an expansion, but after playing that I feel like it’s different enough to really feel like its own game. I’ll admit it doesn’t feel quite as fresh as BotW because it’s using the same map and a lot of the same assets, but I feel like there’s so much they added

Marketing overselling things is nothing new but something like calling your game “one of the most important RPGs ever made” feels especially egregious, even more so if it doesn’t deliver.

I don’t watch those other awards so I don’t know what those are like, but I feel like the game awards probably have even less integrity, or at least pretend less to have integrity. Several winners at the game awards are just rattled off quickfire in between trailers, like they can barely bother to pretend like they

That could work for some cases, but does FFXIV have long branching questlines? I’m thinking of things like Elden Ring or FFX-2 or Mass Effect where things you do throughout the entire game can affect the way certain things play out. Something open world that’s filled with individual linear things might work, but I
