Seriously, 62 Reasonable Discussions and no Dawes? Could it be the end of that Laurel Canyon Meme?
Interesting. I wasn't aware of the Les Brown version. It looks like he started playing that in '58 and Ellington/Strayhorn wrote theirs in '60.
I think the Setzer version is based on Ellington's which is one of my favorites:
One that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is Bruce Cockburn's Christmas album, which is a staple at our house. He does a version of "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" which he based on a version Sam Phillips did for a movie soundtrack. She provides the backing vocals. My favorite version of that song:
I love the little "Heh heh heh" he throws in there. Great song.
I could've been someone,
Well, so could anyone,
You took my dreams from me,
When I first found you.
@avclub-b030afbb3a8af8fb0759241c97466ee4:disqus Sure, if such a thing existed. Generally, I wanted my cassettes to have one album on each side, or an entire double album.
@avclub-a6fdefb2b99177b152b2392b43097665:disqus If I had a short album by the same artist on the other side, I would put the extra tracks there, but otherwise they were lost to the sands of time, like @avclub-1381551339ad8ecfb87a9719aa659716:disqus mentioned.
Recording albums onto cassettes. When I was in high school, I even recorded a few albums onto 8-track tapes (to listen to in my dad's car), when I wasn't walking five miles uphill to school, both ways.
I also love this record. Mostly I just put the holiday music on shuffle. The only other one I come back to and listen to in its entirety is Duke Ellington's Nutcracker.
Ahh, I see. I've had a Tivo for years but recently got a Roku and started watching streaming video on the TV (and started experiencing the pleasure of watching shows pause while the buffer loads).
When you come right down to it, a computer monitor is an awful lot like an actual physical TV.
I have a sample of this book on my Nook, but I haven't gotten to it. Has anyone read it? How is it?
Thanks for caring. Take 1000 XP for your trouble. If you dig through the ashes of the effigy of Hyden I burned outside my office, you'll find 5 SP and a small garnet.
Jesus, Hyden, how 'bout a SPOILER ALERT?!?! Some of us use Tivo. You've ruined my weekend! Ruined it, I say!
Theese reever can kill you in a thousand ways…
Good thing that guy was blind. Otherwise, he would never have been able to snatch that pebble from his hand…
Did they ask Milla Jovovich? I have a sneaking suspicion that she would take that part…
Another old timer! I'm 48. Maybe we should pool our resources and help each other keep these God-damned kids off our lawns!
